Tracks with Unicode chars not copied properly to iTunes

Description

iPod 5G (30GB) iTunes 7.0 Senuti 0.33

When copying songs from iPod to iTunes, I noticed that certain songs were not being added to iTunes. These turned out to be all tracks with Chinese or Japanese characters in the name, artist or album (but strangely, not genre) fields. The files were copied to the hard disk just fine, but somehow were not being added to iTunes. I tried selecting a single such song to transfer, and noticed that although Senuti reported adding the song to iTunes, it seemed as though iTunes never received the message. No errors were thrown.

  • milestone set to 0.5.

this is a known issue and it's one reason why adding to iTunes is disabled by default.

I'm a little confused why adding to iTunes is turned off by default for this bug. The problem I had was the same, and it's copied to the hard drive, but dragging it from the drive to itunes doesn't copy the Ratings to iTunes. This is a real problem for me since most of my songs are rated as I listen to them on the iPod.

  • status changed from new to closed.
  • resolution set to fixed.

This is fixed in the trunk and will be included in the next version. It will have to go through beta testing, but i'm pretty sure it works now.
