Senuti quit while copying to Itunes

Description

I am using a MacBook? Pro 15" 2.16 ghz Intel Core Duo with OS X v. 10.4.7, and iTunes 6.0.5

I have an IPod Photo 30gb.

My computer is new and I was attempting to transfer my music onto the new computer. The first stage of copying went fine, but during the second stage (copying to iTunes, I think?)Senuti quit and then could not be reopened. Itunes also stopped responding. Both functioned after a restart, but I don't think all of the music was copied and I'm not sure what to do from here. In the preferences, I checked the box to have playlists transferred but none of them are there (in Senuti or Itunes). Please help me figure out what to do next. Should I erase all the music and start over?

thanks

Susan Epstein

It appears as if AppleScript? crashed while copying was in progress.

If you have any more info about what might have caused it to crash (like what song it stopped responding on, that'd be great.

For now, since all of your music was copied, you can simply drag and drop it from the Finder into iTunes (unless you really want your play counts and ratings in which case you should start over).

Thanks for the log, I'll look into it more!

I don't know what song was being copied, but there have been additional sequlae since the event.
I reconnected the iPod and it went into "do not disconnect" mode. iTunes became unresponsive and would not quit. All of the music on my iPod is fine, but I hesitate to try again until I know a little more. I'm thinking about trashing everything (including iTunes).

It's supposed to be in "do not disconnect" mode. Senuti requires that the iPod have disk use enabled, and that's what happens in disk mode.

As for iTunes not responding quickly, I don't know about that, but trashing it probably isn't a good idea since that's the only way to manage songs on your iPod once you get them to back to your computer. If the music's on your computer, you can drag and drop it to iTunes, though, and you don't even have to plug your iPod in to finish everything.

I re-installed iTunes and Senuti, having erased the music from my iTunes music folder and cleared it from the iTunes window. Now, the "do not disconnect" on my ipod is solid; iTunes did not ask me if I want to link to the computer; and Senuti is not showing any music in its window. If I click refresh Senuti, it tells me that it is busy/connected to the iPod. I am now hopelessly confused.

Senuti doesn't modify your iPod. It requires that disk use be enabled for it to work as the instructions say. You probably shouldn't have erased the music since it was on your computer (and Senuti had done what it was intended to do). If you have disk use enabled, then you can use Senuti without iTunes open. If enabling copying to iTunes in Senuti is causing issues, then disable it, copy the music to your computer, then add it to iTunes manually.

I don't know enough about iPods to tell you why it's doing that. Your best bet is to contact Apple and ask them how to deal with the issue.

OK, I don't know how or why but I have gotten all of the music onto the iPod, no crashes. Now that it's all there, is there a way to recreate the playlists? When I tried dragging and dropping (prior to copying all the music) nothing happened. Thanks for your help.
