Attaching files to tickets (why and how)

CPU samples, crash logs, and leaks output should be attached to a ticket as files rather than pasted in as raw text. Trac will attempt to format the text if you simply paste it and it is very hard to read that way.

  1. Create your ticket. You can't attach a file until after you've created the ticket.
  2. Click 'Attach File'.
  3. Click 'Choose File', then choose the file that you want to attach.
  4. Enter the name or email address that you used to create the ticket. If you filed the ticket as anonymous, go ahead and leave this as-is.
  5. Enter a brief description.
  6. Click 'Add attachment'.

If it doesn't work

If, for some reason, the attachment system fails, and the file is not successfully attached to the ticket (for reasons other than an existing file by that name, which you can fix simply by renaming yours), then you should say so in a ticket comment.

Even in this case, though, please do not simply paste the file's content into the ticket. Send it to me by email (see Contact), and I'll see if we can get it attached somehow.
