I assume you're not supposed to be able to edit a transaction's attributes once it has been reconciled. If so, you should check the editability of the inspector upon clicks of the 'Reconciled' checkbox. Right now you can still edit fields in the inspector after checking 'Reconciled', as long as the inspector was already open. Is this the correct forum to post this sort of thing?

Dana, you're doing exactly what you should be. Writing to me and letting me know that you (like many others) need better QIF support. I need to work on it. I'll probably get to it over the summer. For now, though here's what you can do. Open the .qif file, with TextEdit, and add the following at the top of the file:

!Option:AutoSwitch
!Account
Account Name

with Account Name being the account that you want the transactions in. I believe that will work for you.

Also, feel free to e-mail me any QIF files you have. I promise I won't do anything illegal with your data. I'm just trying to collect a good number of diverse QIF files to test with.

Hi. I'm stumped, and maybe you can offer a suggestion. I downloaded Cashbox and named a single account "Dana's Checkbook." I then downloaded a .qif file from my bank and imported it. I assumed it would be imported into "Dana's Checkbook," but it went instead into a newly (and automatically) created account named "Import." If I download a second .qif file it goes into a newly created account named "Import 1." I can't figure out how to import directly into "Dana's Checkbook," or alternatively how to get the transactions from "Import" into "Dana's Checkbook." I have a feeling I'm missing something basic, but I just can't see it. What should I be doing?

onetru7h, if you haven't put in any account data, try quitting, deleting the folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Cashbox/, and restarting.

Are you on one of the new Intel macs?

onetru7h, did you try the suggestion that I gave Chris?

Hi, first off I want to say that cashbox is a great app. My only problem with it seems to be similar to Chris. Everytime i quit cash box and reopen it later, a new account called "default account" shows up. If I delete it, quit and reopen cashbox four times in a row, I get 4 extra accounts called "default account." I'm running OS X 10.4.5
Thanks and Congrats on making a great app.

Arnold, some of those things are beyond my knowledge of finance. In addition, Cashbox is designed to be simple, and I don't really plan on adding extremely advanced features. If you're looking for a really good financial management tool for OS X, try LiquidLedger. I've heard it's good.

Hi Whitney, your work is great! i love it and hope you will continue working on it. and the reason i'm porting is feature-requests for the next version.

Chris, try deleting the preference file at ~/Library/Preferences/com.ambitiouslemon.wbyoung.Cashbox.plist if you didn't already. I'll take a look into that, though.
